This morning, Da and I woke up earlier than usual. Da's new biometric passport was ready for collection and we wanted to collect the passport before work today.
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority ("ICA") opens at 8 am. When we arrived at 7.25 am, the queue had already snaked to the back of the building!
Despite the long queue, when the doors to the ICA finally opened at 8 am and we went to Level 2 to take a queue number, we were served very quickly as there were many counters open.
As we were early, we decided to go for breakfast before work. We had 3 places in mind:-
(a) Qi Ji at Bugis Village
(b) Qi Ji at Marina Square located at Raffles Link
(c) Qi Ji at Shaw Towers
Okay, we were not very innovative. But hey, it was so early in the morning and we did not have any other suggestions at that hour of the day.
We decided to board the bus outside the ICA, thinking that any of the buses that arrived at that bus stop would take us to Bugis area. As such, we boarded the first bus that came along - SBS Bus No. 107. However, as the bus progressed along its journey, we realised that the bus was turning onto Beach Road, which would lead us right to the doorstep of Shaw Towers!
What a pleasant surprise! We alighted at Shaw Towers. Displayed prominently behind the bus-stop was the signboard of Qi Ji and the entrance to the cafe.
We decided to eat nasi lemak (one of Qi Ji's specialties) for breakfast since we rarely eat nasi lemak nowadays except at Qi Ji. I ordered their "Set 1".
Da ordered their "Set 7".
Qi Ji's coffee and tea are very smooth and as such, we decided to order one of each.
While waiting for our food to arrive (the chicken cutlet in "Set 7" was fried on the spot and as such, we had to wait "seven minutes" (according to the server) for the chicken), I sent a text message to LSD (whose office is located at Shaw Towers) to inform her that Da and I were at Qi Ji. The dear girl came down to join us for a short chat. She did not show me the bruises that she suffered from the paintball game that she took part in on 13 December 2008 although she mentioned that the bruises are quite bad. Sigh.. do not be shy, girl. Post the photographs of all your bruises in your blog! *grin*
