It is healthy to eat more salad. However, how healthy our bowl / plate of salad is can be affected by the type of salad dressing that we drizzle over the salad. The salad dressing that you see in the photograph above is a peanut and sesame dressing available at the Japanese food section in supermarkets.
To add some variety to the salad, I would usually include:-
(a) lettuce (eg. green lettuce / purple lettuce)
(b) fruits (eg. green apple / raisins / cubed pineapple)
(c) other vegetables (eg. green capsicum / yellow capsicum / red capsicum / celery / carrot / water chestnut / mini cucumber / Japanese cucumber / cherry tomato)
(d) toppings (eg. pine nuts / bacon bits)
More about salad later in this post.
First up, our lunch. Da was working this morning and I also went to the office for a while to clear some work. After work, we took a bus to Qi Ji at Shaw Towers located along Beach Road for lunch.
Although we were very tempted to order the nasi lemak, we decided to order something else for a change. As such, we ordered:-
(a) 1 plate of mee rebus
(b) 1 roll of popiah
(c) 1 piece of steamed yam cake
We like Qi Ji's caffeinated drinks. As such, we ordered a mug of coffee (with evaporated milk) and a mug of tea (with evaporated milk).
Burp! Gosh, we were so full after lunch. Raring to walk off our lunch (and with intention to walk to Da's office at Enggor Street where our car was parked), we walked along Beach Road and turned into Seah Street. As we were walking towards Raffles Hotel (whose side entrance is located along Seah Street), we saw a shop selling baking items (eg. baking tray, baking ingredients, etc). Fascinated to find such a shop located along Seah Street, we entered the shop, browsed for a while, and walked out of the shop with some purchases. (Hi SY, you can find the cake cutter (that is shaped like a hanger) at this shop!)
As we approached Raffles Hotel, we saw a beautiful red vintage car parked at the side of the hotel. We could not resist taking a photograph of the car. Neither could other passersby, it seems! Many passersby were busy taking photographs of the car and with the car.
Goodness me! Look at the time! It was evening already. We decided to end our walking tour and take a bus to Tanjong Pagar.
We alighted at the bus stop infront of Amara Hotel and crossed the road to Tanjong Pagar Plaza to buy a marketing trolley (which cost us S$19-90). We are going to the wet market with my mother tomorrow and our marketing trolley (which we have had since 1998) finally gave way the last time that we used it a few months ago (its wheels fell out... considering that we have used it for a good 10 years, I would say that it was worth it).
Dinner was at the home of The Three Musketeers. As ET had just been discharged from the hospital after his surgery, he wanted to eat salad for dinner. Although the Western-trained doctors will tell you that there is no dietary restriction after a surgical operation, many Asians believe that there are certain types of food that one should avoid immediately after an operation (eg. red meat, chicken, seafood, etc) as consumption of such food would hamper the recovery process.
The Three Musketeers requested for Kentucky Fried Chicken ("KFC") for their dinner. Although I like the coleslaw from KFC, they used to sell another type of salad in the 1980s which was just as nice. I cannot remember the name of the salad off-hand... I think it was called "potato salad" or "vegetable salad" (or something along those lines). Does this ring a bell to you?
Dinner was also accompanied by crispy peanut pancake. Delicious!
Pre-packed garlic bread was heated up in the conventional oven (without removing the garlic bread from the aluminium foil that it was packed in) at 180 degrees celsius for 20 minutes. I normally make my own garlic spread and (if time permits), I bake my own bread. However, I did not have time to make garlic bread today. As such, the garlic bread that you see in the photograph below was bought from NTUC Fairprice Supermarket. The garlic bread is their house brand.

After a short break at Raffles Hotel, we continued on our walking tour and popped into Shop-In departmental store near Capitol Building to enjoy some air-conditioning. I also managed to buy a pair of 3/4 length cargo pants. (Yes, BD, SPD and Miss Southampton - the navy blue 3/4 length cargo pants that I wore to our Hong Kong trip no longer fits me... sigh...)

As such, it was quite a feast for dinner! Supercute and Tau Suan certainly enjoyed their KFC.
Even Nining enjoyed her dinner tremendously and gave the "thumbs up", to the amusement of Calla Lily.
After surgery yesterday, ET was given a very huge bandage at the wound area. The bandage has since been changed to a smaller water-proof bandage so that he can bathe more easily.
Da and I enjoyed the salad dinner. Not only does it not contain any meat, it also helps to cleanse one's system. Let's have salad dinner again soon.
