A decade of blessing

How time flies.

This year, Da and I celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It has certainly been an interesting journey, hasn't it, Da?

We got to know each other in 1995. Our introducers were none other than WC and SC [yes, we gave them a 紅包 (that is, "red packet") when we got married, to thank them for being the "媒人" (that is, "matchmaker")].

We hit it off from the beginning because of our common interest in:-

(a) soccer (in particular, the English Premier League matches, the World Cup matches and UEFA Champion's League matches); and

(b) World Wrestling Federation (as it was known then) - It is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment ("WWE").

It is amazing that 13 years after we first met, we are still watching soccer and WWE matches on television!

In more recent years, we also added Formula One races and golf games to our television consumption.

In March 1998, we solemnised our marriage at the Registry of Marriages.

In December 1998, we said our wedding vows in church and had the traditional Chinese tea ceremony and wedding dinner on the same day as our church wedding.

As all newly married couples will find out, there will always be teething problems in a marriage. This is because the couple, who used to lead independent lives, will now have to learn to live together as one unit. There will be adjustments and concessions.

At the end of the day, it is all about give and take. For example:-

(a) How Da puts up with my endless litany of "chanting" (that is, grumbling / complaints), I have no idea. But thank you, Da, for being such a wonderful listening ear and for your most interesting suggestions on how to solve the problem.

(b) I no longer grumble when Da leaves the toilet seat up after using the toilet. I simply put the seat down when I walk past the toilet. *grin*

More importantly, the couple needs to remember that marriage is a trinity - the husband, the wife and our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the glue that holds the marriage together.

Thank you, Abba Father, for blessing our union.

Around 11 am today, a beautiful bouquet of flowers (see photograph below) was delivered to me in the office. (The "Ah Soh" in me was gleeful... "Got container! Can re-use!" was the second thought that went through my mind, after I admired the flowers, that is.... *grin*).

The floral arrangement was accompanied by a card that read:-

"Happy 10th Anniversary!!!
May the Good Lord continue to be the 3rd party in our relationship and lead us to more great years to come...
Have a Shaloam day."

Thank you, Da, for loving me.
