Little ones grow up fast

The baby of our family is none other than little MT. He is a Jack Russell Terrier and was born in November 2002.

MT's proud Papa is my youngest brother, LG. LG bought MT from Pet Tales, a pet shop not very far from Da's and my home.

Other than the brown patches on MT's head, MT has a smooth coat of unmarked white fur. Even though his left ear is white with some brown patches, somehow it adds to the charm of MT.

The entire family adores MT, from his Mama (my mother) to his Papa, his Papa's girlfriend and his Uncles and Aunties. He knows that he is deeply loved and he loves us back unconditionally as well.

MT has sensitive skin and as such, His Royal Highness' daily dinner is cooked (usually by his Mama) and not from a can. He can be a fussy eater. At various stages over the past several years, he has displayed a liking for durian, cheese buns, pork floss, cream crackers, char siew, pasta noodles, etc. Upon the advice of the vet, my family does not add seasoning when cooking his dinner, which makes me wonder how he can tolerate bland food.

Ever ready to have his photograph taken, MT is most happy when the family is celebrating a birthday and the birthday boy or girl carries MT for a photograph with the birthday cake.

Although MT recognises and does respond to his name being called, he prefers to respond to "handsome", "boy-boy" or "darling".

Being the baby of the family, MT is surrounded by many toys. If you were to look closely at the photograph below, you will notice that MT is leaning away from the walrus. This is because for some reason, he does not like the walrus and would bark at it.

The little rascal epitomises the phrase "his bark is louder than his bite". As he lives in a two-storey house, if everyone is upstairs and he hears a sound downstairs, he will bark loudly at the top of the staircase but stop short of going downstairs to investigate what the sound is about. He is also afraid of thunder, lightning and moving objects (eg. curtains blowing in the wind). A little "scardey cat" indeed.

I wish that I had taken more photographs of MT when he was younger. He has matured in looks over the years. However, there is one thing that has not changed all these years - he believes that he is forever young and he is secure in the knowledge that he always has the love of those around him.

Stay cute, my little darling!
