On the road to recovery

A big thank you to everyone for their well wishes for speedy recovery of MIL. She has been warded at the hospital since 2 December 2008 due to an infection in her right knee. On 9 December 2008, she underwent surgery to remove the fluid in the swelling in her knee. As a result, she has to date not been able to be discharged from the hospital.

After the surgery, MIL's right knee has been in a bandage to prevent further infection to the wound.

Fortunately, the bleeding in her right knee has stopped and she has been busy exploring the hospital in her free time with a bandage in her right knee. Goodness me! What am I saying? She has plenty of free time right now! I guess this means that she has taken a tour of the entire hospital several times to date. *grin*

She is still placed under antibiotic treatment via drip. She tried to "sweet-talk" the doctor into prescribing oral antibiotics instead but he explained to her that as she is diabetic, an antibiotic treatment via drip would be more effective.

When Da and I visited MIL on 14 December 2008, we nearly missed seeing her at her ward because she was just about to go to the cafeteria for drinks and food with FIL. We bumped into them at the lift lobby.

As FIL had not yet eaten his lunch, we proceeded to the Houseman's Canteen located on Level 1 of the hospital.

FIL ordered some food from the Muslim stall. Wow! It certainly looks very sedap (that is, delicious)!

We also brought along some chocolate fruit cake that I had baked. This cake is very easy to bake. I have posted the recipe in my blog.

As we left the cafeteria, we passed by a florist. The floral arrangement were very lovely. I would imagine that the prices are higher than the market rate but given the fact that this is a hospital and the florist is providing a much needed service, I guess that this is justifiable. MIL admired a S$28 floral arrangement in particular (Hi FIL - big hint for you to score big points with MIL! It is the floral arrangement in the centre of the photograph at the top of this post).

There is a big fish pond near the cafeteria. Each time MIL passes by the pond, she would stop to admire the lovely fish... and to tease them as well!

According to MIL, there is a high possibility that she can (finally!) be discharged on 16 December 2008. This would depend on the review by the consultant on 15 December 2008 but MIL believes that she will be walking out of the hospital on 16 December 2008.

Thank you, Abba Father, for healing MIL.
