The challenge

The more we learn about God and learn from our Lord Jesus Christ, the more the devil comes against us like a roaring lion, hoping to distract us by throwing conflict and strife in our lives in order to turn our focus away from our Savior. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy. He does not want us to receive anything from God. He may even use the words and actions of those around us to destroy our faith and hope in God and in what His Word says about our lives. When this happens, we need to continue to stand on God's Word.

When others reproach or attack us, we should turn away from them. Do not let ourselves get affected by what has happened. The battle is the Lord's. What the devil meant against us, God can use it to defeat the enemy.

It sounds so simple and it really is that simple. All it takes is faith in our Lord. The fact is that we already have the faith. What we need to do is to learn how to speak forth and activate our faith in order to move mountains.

However, the reality is that we are human and we find it a challenge to forgive those who come against us. We have often heard the phrase "turn the other cheek". It is easy to say this but so difficult to execute. Our human nature often wants to take over. Furthermore, there is always that little voice inside of us, prompting us not to let ourselves be made a fool of or to be bullied.

What can we then do? We take little steps every day towards increasing our faith and claiming the promised land. Slowly learn to "let go and let God". There will, of course, be times when something that someone has done or said hurts or attacks us and it is not easy to overlook it, especially when the source of the hurt or attack is someone close to us. In fact, the constant battle just makes us so weary and we wonder where all this is leading to. By our own human effort, it may not be possible to let this go. Faith can be a fight and it is at times like this that all the more, we need to go back to the Word of God and claim victory in order for us to receive our breakthrough.

We need to resist symptoms and circumstances no matter how much they come against us and stand on the Word of God until we achieve a breakthrough. Sometimes, we may not see an immediate manifestation of our victory but that does not mean that nothing is happening. How many times have we encountered a situation where we do not place thought to the circumstances and one day, we suddenly realise that things have fallen into place?

Abba Father, I believe that You want the best for me. Life is not always a bed of roses and I sometimes wish that it could be perfect. However, I know that any strife or bad circumstances did not come from you. I reject these in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. The truth is that I have victory through You. I have noticed that the more I read about You and the more I learn about Your promises for me, the more I get attacked by the devil. Be thou gone, oh evil one! You are the serpent whose head Jesus has crushed! I am more than a conqueror. I am the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ. Thank You for loving me, my Saviour.
