I will be still

As Da had to be at work early today for a meeting, we decided to eat our breakfast near our workplace. As such, we went to an Indian Muslim cafe located at Stanley Street. According to my brother-in-Christ (NN), this cafe specialises in roti prata (among other food). This is the second time that we have ordered roti prata from this cafe. The roti prata is made fresh and it arrives piping hot at your table. You also have a choice of two types of curry - fish curry and chicken curry. Both types of curry are equally good although curry lovers would probably prefer the fish curry as it is more spicy. Da and I ordered one of each type of curry.

Of course, no meal of roti prata would be complete without teh tarik and kopi tarik.

Da and I met for lunch at the Amoy hawker centre today. The hawker centre was very crowded. I was very tempted to take photographs of our lunch but out of the corner of my eye, I spied several colleagues seated at a table nearby and I was too "shy" to take out my camera. *grin*

At work today, a colleague gave me a slice of homemade banana cake. I saved it till the evening. When I took a bite of the banana cake, it was heavenly! The cake was so soft and light. I have to get my hands on the recipe!

My brother (LB) and his wife (MF) took my mother and ZT (girlfriend of my other brother, LG) out to dinner today. My mother contacted me and offered to buy dinner for Da and me.

When Da and I arrived at my mother's home, LB and MF had already left. My mother had bought chicken rice for us. This is a very popular dish with locals. You have a choice of steamed chicken or roast chicken. Da and I prefer roast chicken. When my maternal grandmother was alive, she used to tease me for being a "silly girl" for preferring chicken breast to other parts of the chicken. She said (and I agree) that the other parts of the chicken are more tender and juicy but somehow I do not like the taste of the other parts of the chicken. I prefer the bland and not-juicy taste of chicken breast. Besides, I guess chicken breast is more healthy?

The order of chicken rice was accompanied by a complimentary side dish of pickled vegetables. My mother's eldest sister (Tuayi) tosses a lovely salad of pickled vegetables.

As my mother had two leftover fish cakes, Da and I ate the fishcakes as well.

Boy-Boy was very well behaved today (but then again, he always is! Well... most of the time, at least!).

Lately, the lyrics to the song "Still" (by Hillsong United) have been playing in my mind constantly. We often do not know what to do in times of trials and tribulations. However, the Lord does. Let us trust Him to guide us to say the right thing and take the right action... and leave the rest to Him. In the midst of the storm, we will be still and know that He is Lord.

Will we make mistakes in our lives? We will, because we are humans and humans are imperfect. However, when we make a mistake, we do not need to "beat ourselves" over what happened. We may need to take certain courses of action to rectify the situation or to do "damage control" but let us trust the Lord to guide us what to do and trust that He will turn things around for us. The battle is the Lord's, not ours. Our role is to rest in Him and to trust Him. Resting in the Lord does not mean sitting around and doing nothing. What it does mean is that we need to have faith in the Lord and not to doubt that He can and He will turn our lemons into lemonade.

"Still"
(Words and Music by Reuben Morgan)

"Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God"

Remember this - Jesus loves you. Amen.
