gone bananas

It was one of those days when Da and I had an entire bunch of overripe uneaten bananas. The only solution was to use up the bananas to bake cakes, etc. We had gone bananas today! All in all, the bananas were used to bake/make the following:-
(a) banana cake
(b) banana and raisin ice cream
(c) banana cookies

As Da had to work today, we shared a quick breakfast of:-
(a) a hot mug of hazelnut flavoured white coffee
(b) banana berries bread (which our breadmaker baked in the wee hours of this morning)
(c) a pork floss bun, a slice of walnut cake and a slice of marble cake (which I had bought for S$1 each from the confectionery at Marine Parade Central last night)

When Da came back from work, we went to our favourite coffee shop at Jalan Tua Kong for lunch. This coffee shop opens for breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays to Sundays only. As it was about 3 pm when we arrived, the stallholders were already packing up to go home. However, as we are regulars at this coffee shop, the stallholder beckoned us to sit down and place our orders. Da ordered a chicken fried rice while I ordered a bowl of longevity noodles (mee sua) in soup. As always, the drinks stallholder spoke animatedly to his "soccer brother" (that is, Da) about soccer.

Da and I were invited to dinner at the home of the Three Musketeers. Before we left the house, I packed some apple muffins and banana cookies (both of which I had baked today) for the three handsome boys who live opposite Da and I in our apartment block.

Dinner was a simple affair. ET had cooked spaghetti in tomato sauce. We all had a very generous portion each accompanied by dessert wine.

After dinner, while everyone was watching "Harry Potter" on television, we ate freshly cut fruits and peanut butter rolls (which I had baked today). Complement this with a hot pot of coffee. Ah, life's simple pleasures.

To end the day on a sweet note, we all scooped banana raisin ice cream (which I had made last night) direct from the container. Delicious!
