This has been an unbelievable weekend.
When it rains, it pours.
Da and I overslept (who doesn't oversleep on a sunday, eh?) and started our sunday with... lunch at Katong Shopping Centre ("KSC") with my family. For the uninitiated who think that there is "nothing in KSC", here are some recommendations of shops that you may like to check out:-
(a) Basement - the food court sells delicious chicken rice, western food, yong tauhu, rojak and mini-pot noodles (I am listing the more popular food. There are other stalls there but I am not as fond of the other food).
(b) Basement - the corner shop next to the food court sells jeans, etc. They also specialise in alteration of clothes. My family and I have been patronising this shop for alteration of clothes since 1995.
(c) Basement - next to the escalator is a Christian book store. I like to patronise it every now and then to buy Christian CDs. It was here that I found the album by Ray Boltz that I had been searching for. I heard a pastor sing "Watch the Lamb" during an Easter service at a Baptist church in South Carolina, United States of America ("USA") in 1995. I was entranced and although I managed to find the cassette tape of Ray Boltz's album in USA while I was there, I was elated when I found the CD version of his album. Till today, it remains one of my favourite Christian albums.
(d) Level 1 - there is an optical shop next to the escalator. Although the shop is quite new, the director of this company has been in this line for more than 20 years. He was previously working in another optical shop that has many outlets in Singapore. Till today, he can still remember the type of spectacles and sunglasses that my daddy liked to order even though my daddy has been enjoying life "upstairs" for the past 16 years. He can even imitate the mannerism that my brothers and I had whenever we visited the optical shop when we were young children. He has the memory of an elephant.
(e) Level 1 - the famous "Rey-Im Cosmetics House" that sells toiletries and cosmetics at prices cheaper than those sold in departmental stores.
(f) Level 2 - there is a shoe shop on this level selling leather and non-leather shoes. They sell shoes with 1/2 sizes! Yippee! The shop owner has a quirky sense of humour and makes customers laugh.
We bumped into HC who was having lunch with his family at the food court in KSC. He and Da exchanged views on the performance by the Red Devils (supported by Da) and the Reds (supported by HC) during their respective English Premier League matches yesterday.
After lunch, Da and I made our way to church. Goodness me! We could not even get into the carpark, which was full! We were informed by the security guard that there were several conventions/exhibitions taking place concurrently. No wonder! Da suggested parking at a nearby building where BH works. Although it meant that it would be quite a walk for us to church from that building, I agreed as the carparks near church were full. However, when we reached BH's building, the carpark was also full!
In the end, we went home and took a nap before we proceeded to my mommy's home for dinner. When we arrived, we saw my brother (the chef) taking a break at the car porch. I teased him about taking a break when he hadn't finished cooking.
Dinner was superb. The fish curry was tangy and appetising.
The chef gave us a choice of stir-fried vegetables or vegetables fried with tumeric and mustard seed. We chose the former.
The "chai-por" omelette was fried to perfection, as always.
The chicken wings were marinated and baked till the skin was slightly crispy but the meat was still tender and juicy.

For dessert, Da and I had brought along the cheesecake that I made.
This time, I placed the cheesecake in the freezer before I sliced the cheesecake. Not only was the cheesecake firmer, it was easier to slice. To make it even easier to slice, one should use a hot knife, but I was impatient and did not heat up the knife before slicing the cheesecake.
Not a bad effort, huh? Considering that yesterday's cheesecake ended up in a mush (because I did not freeze it before serving), I would say that today's cheesecake wasn't too bad.... *grin*.

Da and I have just come back from the Accident & Emergency ("A&E") Department of a hospital. After dinner and while we were having dessert, I discovered that my left eye was swollen and reddish. When I looked into the mirror, I saw what seemed like a boil in the white of my left eye. When we went to the hospital's A&E Department, the houseman used a flashlight to shine into my eye. He said that my eyes looked like "goldfish eyes" and he immediately redirected me to the eye specialist on duty. I was diagnosed with sore eyes and prescribed medication. One of the eye drops that you see in the photograph below contains antibiotics. The tube contains a sticky cream that makes it almost impossible for me to see when the cream is applied to my eye.
I count myself blessed that my sore eyes were discovered at the early stages, only my left eye has been infected and my cornea and retina have not been affected. Hopefully early treatment will prevent the infection from spreading to my right eye and I can go back to work earlier than the expiry of the 5 days' medical leave that I have been given.
