One-month party for HTEE

We had a party to attend this afternoon. Da's nephew (son of Da's cousin, THS and his wife, TCC) was born on 5 June 2010 and the family was hosting a one-month party for baby HTEE.

As such, we decided to have a light breakfast. Well, I guess it was wishful thinking because when I removed the baking tray from the oven with our nicely warmed bread buns, I took a look at the contents of the baking tray and laughed. While I had taken the effort to slice each bun into two (to be shared between Da and myself - "jit lang jit puah"), I must have been overly enthusiastic and warmed up all the remaining bread buns in our refrigerator!

The hot beverage of the morning was Ipoh white coffee.

In the early afternoon, we made our way to the development where Da's cousin live. The one-month party was held at the function room next to the swimming pool.

Ta-da! Here is the guest of honour....

Isn't baby HTEE so adorable? He was such a darling at the party.

We left the party shortly after we arrived as Princess was running late for her enrichment class.

After the enrichment class, we went back to the party where it was still going on.

Do you see the bowl of red coloured eggs in the photograph below? In Chinese custom, it is traditional to soak hard boiled eggs in water that has been mixed with red colouring (so that the egg shells get stained red) and to distribute the "red eggs" at the one-month party of a baby.

I heard that the buffet was catered from Kate's Catering Services. I found the food delicious. In particular, the mee siam gravy was very yummy!

After we left the party in the late afternoon, we went to the NTUC Supermarket at Marine Parade to stock up on fish and pork for Princess' porridge.

Before we left, we bought a container of pork porridge for Princess' dinner. However, on our way home, Princess fell asleep and as such, we gave her a bottle of milk for her dinner instead when we reached home.

As such, Da ate the porridge for dinner.

The porridge was served with "yew char kueh".

I declined to share the porridge as I had in mind to eat bak kwa.

Place the slice of bak kwa between two slices of bread and voila! You have bak kwa sandwich.

After dinner, I opened the small packet of butter cookies that we bought from Cold Storage Supermarket yesterday. It has been years since I ate this brand of butter cookies.

And... a hot mug of coffee to end the day.
