The good old days

Da's cousin (MT) is currently back in Singapore for a vacation. He currently lives in Brisbane, Australia.

Four years ago, MT left our sunny shores for Brisbane. As he is a permanent resident of Australia and he had been away from Australia for several years, it was a case of "come back or say "bye" to your permanent residency". However, in the blink of an eye, four years have since gone past. Time really flies!

It was MT who introduced Da and I to the church that we currently attend. He had also introduced us to another church previously but somehow, the message preached at that church did not "call out to us". The first time that MT brought us to this current church, we felt a sense of peace and for the first time in our lives, we had a revelation of the Word of the Lord. I believe that at the end of the day, it does not matter which church you attend. What is most important is that you are able to receive the Word of God at the church that you attend. As my friend DDT says, it is all between you and God.

The three of us attended the 2nd service at church today. The message today was simple and yet powerful. God is always in our situation. No matter what challenges we are going through, bring Jesus into our situation and He will always do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power of our revelation of His love for us.

In case you are wondering why there are so many photographs of nasi lemak in this post, it is because one of our usual haunts after church when MT lived in Singapore previously was to have our lunch or our tea time (depending on which church service we attended) at Qi Ji cafe located at Raffles Link.

So as not to fly in the face of tradition, after church service today, the three of us made our way to Qi Ji for a late lunch. This cafe sells local food such as nasi lemak, mee siam, laksa, pau, soon kueh, chee cheong fun, yam cake, etc. Since the time that MT was last in Singapore, their variety of nasi lemak has expanded to 8 different sets. They are also known for their coffee and tea, both of which are very smooth. (Yes, LSD, I am a big fan of Qi Ji and I could not resist ordering the nasi lemak today!)

Although we had last met MT at our home last night when he came over for dinner (and in actual fact, we also met him the day before as well, that is, on friday night at a dinner hosted by Da's parents!), the conversation did not seem to end. MT and Da are not only first cousins, they are also good friends and they get along very well. It is wonderful when you are able to discuss the message of grace with a fellow believer.

Hi MT, as promised, I have posted all the photographs that I took at Qi Ji today, including the insect at the window ledge. Enjoy your holiday in Singapore and we look forward to seeing you at Singapore Indoor Stadium this coming friday for the combined church service.

(Hi Miss Southampton, I believe that you are reading my blog right now. Just to keep you updated, there is a combined church service at the Singapore Indoor Stadium this coming friday. There will be no church service on sunday because it is Chinese New Year Eve.)
