Glory Catering

It's saturday again! I wish there were more days to a weekend than two days. It never seems enough.

We spent the morning at home. Too lazy to go out for breakfast, we warmed up some bread that we had in our refrigerator. It was a simple but delicious breakfast.

Naturally, we drank coffee to complement our bread.

PIL came over to our home in the afternoon. Thereafter, we went out in one car and visited a showflat. Da and I are interested in this development because of the layout (the rooms are regular shaped, there is a storeroom in addition to a utility room, the kitchen have windows (our current kitchen is not by the window) and the units are 3 or 4 bedroom units), the tenure (freehold) and the location (about 5 to 10 minutes' walk from my mother's home). However, most of the units seem to have been sold already, despite the fact that the development was only launched for sale about two weeks ago. Gosh.... properties are certainly "flying off the shelves" these days. Gone are the days when one has the luxury of visiting a showflat when the development has been completed. Nowadays, some developers do not even bother to print brochures because the units are fully sold at the soft launch.

In the late afternoon, we went with PIL to Glory Catering along East Coast Road for a late lunch. FIL jokingly asked whether this was lunch or dinner. How about "dunch"?

This was one of two non-chilli dishes that FIL ordered.

The ikan bilis with peanuts was sweetish and a little spicy.

This is the other non-chilli dish - bergedel.

The assam fish was tasty.

Sayur lodeh - a popular local dish.

I am developing a taste for brinjal. In the past, I did not eat brinjal because of the old wives' tale that consumption of too much brinjal will cause blindness. Is there any basis to this old wives' tale? Any feedback?

MIL liked the sambal belacan.

My mouth was burning before the end of the meal due to the fact that most of the dishes were chilli dishes and I am not a chilli-eater.

To end the meal on a sweet note, we shared some kueh-kueh.

Have you ever noticed that nowadays, the 9-layer kueh is no longer 9 layers?

FIL ordered coffee.

I ordered kopi tarik kurang manis.

Da ordered teh tarik kurang manis.

By the time we were done with the meal, it was almost 6 pm. We decided to head back to our home and PIL stayed to watch several World Cup soccer matches at our home.

We shared some dragonfruit and papaya that PIL had brought.

We also ate coffee swiss roll that I had bought from a confectionery in Marine Parade.

I opened a packet of potato chips for PIL and Da but I declined to eat the potato chips. I am not fond of potato chips but I like tortilla chips.
