Family lunch and dinner
Yesterday was my father's death anniversary. He passed away unexpectedly on 27 November 1992 at the young age of 47.
We went with my family to the Columbaria to visit my father's niche today to pay our respects. Princess waved at the photograph of her maternal grandpa on the niche and gave a "flying kiss".
Thereafter, we adjourned to Katong Shopping Centre for lunch.
My mother, my brother (LB) and LB's wife (MF) ate chicken rice.
My other brother (LG) and LG's wife (ZT) shared a big bowl of yong tauhu ingredients but had their own bowls of noodles.
After we fed Princess her home-cooked porridge, Da ordered yong tauhu for himself.
I ordered yong tauhu as well.
Something interesting happened at the enrichment centre today. After Princess' class was over, she lingered on in her classroom and helped her teachers to arrange the toys for the next class (which was for the older children). As she helped her teachers, she turned back intermittently and waved me off, as though to tell me that she can manage and I can leave to run errands.
We went to the home of PIL in the evening. After FIL pointed out to Princess the aeroplanes in the sky, we went to Hong Kong Street Family restaurant at Eastwood Centre for dinner.

Exhausting day
Da's eldest aunt (on his dad's side of the family) passed away unexpectedly on friday, 19 November 2010.
Her funeral was this afternoon but I was unable to attend as I was very busy at work. I had clients who had arranged to fly to Singapore from abroad and had scheduled a 3 pm meeting at my office today. As we are currently short of manpower in the office, I was unable to take leave / time off to attend the funeral.
By the time I left the office and made my way back, it was very late. When I reached Marine Parade area, most of the food stalls had already closed.
I managed to buy fried noodles from a zi char stall at a coffeeshop near the place where we are currently renting.
As I did not eat the pork and prawns, my meal was a little insubstantial. As such, I reached for a leftover piece of blueberry cheese tart after my noodle meal.
It is at times like this that I wonder why we are slogging so hard. I look at others who get to go home early, are not required to attend night meetings, etc and I wonder where the fairness in this is.
It is easy to say that the Lord has big plans for us and He will turn all this for our good. And I believe that the Lord is planning victory for me and He has in fact given me victory over all trials and tribulations. But I am only human and there are times when I sit back and the feeling of unfairness really gets to me. There is not a thing I can do about this and I just have to snap out of it.

Lord, I cast all cares and burdens on You. Carry the Cross for me, Lord.

Farewell, Aunty TPC
I left the office late today.
When I reached home, I received news from Da that his eldest aunt passed away unexpectedly this evening.
Aunty TPC was at home when she passed away. I do not have the full details yet but it seems that her two domestic helpers overheard her giving a few short intakes of breath before she was called home to be with the Lord.
Aunty TPC used to be a teacher. When she retired from teaching, she devoted her retirement years to looking after her parents because she was the eldest of five children and the only one who was unmarried.
As the years went by, Aunty TPC developed Alzheimer's Disease. Her condition deteriorated to the extent that one day, she suddenly stopped speaking. Subsequently, she stopped chewing her food and as such, her domestic helper had to blend her food for her to swallow. In more recent years, she stopped swallowing and had to be on tube feeding.
I will always remember Aunty TPC as a kindly lady who always had a nice word to say to me. Even from the first time Da brought me to visit his grandparents and Aunty TPC when we were dating in 1995, Aunty TPC always welcomed me and treated me as part of the family.
I thank the Lord that Aunty TPC did not suffer much when she passed away. She has gone to the arms of our Lord. She is now walking on streets of gold in heaven and her body will never grow old nor become feeble anymore.
The Lord bless you and keep you always, Aunty TPC.
Thanks for the wonderful memories. I will treasure them always.
